According to the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP by its Spanish acronym), this figure includes 140,145 doses as part of clinical studies, and 2,050,385 in the booster vaccination that is being applied in selected territories and risk groups.
The administration of this booster was stepped up in the country in view of the circulation of the new omicron variant and the evidence that a booster dose increases the levels of protection against infection by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
This additional immunization is applied to the population that has already received the full vaccination scheme with the Cuban immunogens Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala: 9,673,087 people up to January 2.
At least one dose has been received by 10, 449,308 people, including those convalescing from the disease who have been vaccinated with Soberana Plus as a single dose.
Of this number, 9, 305,955 people have already received a second dose, and 8,945,419 have received a third one.
In all, 30, 891,212 anti-COVID-19 doses have been administered in Cuba.
