The President made this reflection during the April meeting of the Council of Ministers, held on Monday, which assessed the economic-social strategy to strengthen the economy in the global crisis generated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Granma newspaper, this strategy, drawn up in 2020, has been a working premise in these two years, based on the National Economic and Social Development Plan until 2030.
Speaking at the meeting, the President stressed that the country’s life faces unavoidable situations such as the intensified U.S. economic blockade, the media campaigns that seek to distort the reality of the island, and the pandemic, whose effects persist.
He insisted on the concept of “creative resistance” aimed at “overcoming this situation with our efforts and our own talent” and with the confidence that Cuba could emerge victorious from these challenges.
During the meeting, which was also headed by the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, various ministers discussed the country’s difficult economic situation and its development until March and the measures to face the challenges and difficulties.
They also analyzed the promotion and attraction of foreign investment, the link between universities and production and service entities, the indiscipline behavior, illegalities, and administrative corruption that occurred in 2021 in several entities, and the policy to improve the National Auditing System.
