“There is a decrease in the average number of daily cases in April about the previous month. The highest transmission during this month has been concentrated in Camagüey, Havana, Mayabeque, and Ciego de Avila, which are the territories that have concentrated, approximately fifty percent of the cases diagnosed during this period,” the head of the group said.
In the meeting, the doctor also referred to the permanence of the Omicron variant in the country.
In this regard, he emphasized that “we continue with the sequencing of the variants. Those that were sequenced in the last week continue to confirm that Omicron is the predominant variant in the country. All those we studied were of the BA.2 subvariant of the Omicron variant, that is, no new variant has appeared among the sequenced cases”.
Through videoconference, the authorities of the fifteen provinces and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud informed about the epidemiological situation in each territory, showing a scenario of epidemic control at the national level.
