Cubans Yoandry Freire and Ludisneli Fleitas won the First Escambray Mountain Bike Challenger, a competitive success in three stages from the Sancti Spiritus mountain range to Ancon Beach in Trinidad(central Cuba).

Freire won the elite category with an accumulated time of 5:35.02 hours, ahead of Ecuador’s Jorge Brito (5:39.59) and Orestes Martinez, the latter a veteran of the Master class (6:21.37), according to the institutional sports publication Jit.

Among the women, Fleitas (7:28.05), Kelly Mendez (8:12.00) and Yeranis Morejon (9:03.16) dominated.

In addition to Orestes Martinez, third in the general classification and first in the Master, Alexei Martinez led the Master B, while Alexander Casa won the Master C.

This time representatives from Ecuador, Slovenia and Venezuela competed, who intend to bring other riders.

Precisely the Ecuadorian Jorge Brito was one of the main protagonists of the elite category, escorting Freire in the first two stages and crossing the final finish line two seconds ahead of his Cuban friend and adversary, to secure the runner-up position.
