This was reported at Tuesday’s meeting of the Group of Experts and Scientists for the fight against the disease, chaired by President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
The dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of Havana University, Dr. Raul Guinovart Diaz, said that the trend points to a decrease in the number of confirmed cases and deaths.
Notwithstanding this good prognosis, Diaz-Canel considered it very important to continue the studies on the durability of the immunization of the vaccines: “the key is to maintain the immunization levels” and requested to accelerate the rates of the booster vaccination.
Cuba is studying the behavior of international trends in this regard, under the premise that people should receive the doses of vaccines when it is their turn to avoid outbreaks of the disease.
During the meeting, a plan for the development of Intensive Care Services was presented, which today comprises 152 units throughout the country.
The Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Tania Margarita Cruz Hernández, emphasized that the purpose is to increase the number of beds, modernize the technology installed in these facilities and train human resources.
