Cuba Categorically Rejects US Allegations about Trafficking in Persons

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez rejected on Wednesday recent statements about assistance, trafficking in persons, terrorism and human rights, affirming that such allegations are foreign to Cuba.

On his Twitter account, Minister Rodriguez said that using lies the US administration intends to justify its hostile measures and aggression against the Cuban people.

On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden determined that United States will not provide nonhumanitarian, nontrade-related assistance to, or allow funding for participation in educational and cultural exchange programs by officials or employees of, the Governments of Cuba during fiscal 2022 and this also includes other countries like Nicaragua for not having done enough to fight trafficking in persons.

The island insisted in its zero tolerance policy against the phenomenon and as part of its prevention Cuban institutions maintained their capacity to increase risk perception.
