Cuban President Raul Castro received on Thursday the President of the Republic of Kenya, Mr. Uhuro Kenyatta, who is on an official visit to Cuba
In an atmosphere of cordiality, both leaders agreed to highlight the friendly relations that exist between the two countries and the will to promote political ties and cooperation. They also expressed mutual satisfaction with the opening of the Kenyan Embassy in Havana and discussed issues on the international agenda.
The Cuban President expressed his appreciation for the assistance offered by the Government of Kenya to help in the recovery from Hurricane Irma.
The distinguished visitor was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Monica K. Juma, the Minister of Sport and Culture, Rashid Achesa Mohamud, the Chargé d’affaires a.i. of Kenya, Anthony Mushiry, and the Minister and Secretary-General of the Jubilee Party, Raphael Tuju.
On the Cuban side were Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz and Abel Prieto Jiménez, ministers of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, and Culture, respectively, and Ambassador Ernesto Gómez Díaz.
