A mobile computer center, best known in Cuba as Joven Club de Computación, started operating in Sancti Spiritus as an educational and recreational option for the people living in hard-to-reach areas. It is an air-conditioned bus with 12 modern computers inside that offer the same services available in the usual facilities.
This initiative, born to contribute to the informatization of the Cuban society and to local development, features a fourth generation technology, 32-inch LCD monitors and network connection.
The mobile unit was funded by the local government, and its construction was supported by other institutions of the territory.
On the other hand, an ambitious project of a technological boulevard has just been started, whose first stage will include the installation in that central area of the city of 10 videogame machines.
In Sancti Spiritus there are 27 computer centers (Joven Clubs de Computación) distributed throughout the territory (eight municipalities), which are currently being submitted to the renovation of their technology.
