Cuban President and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party, Raul Castro, attended Tuesday in
Havana the political-cultural gala for the Centennial of the October Socialist Revolution.
Also attending the gala held at Havana’s Karl Marx Theater were, Vice President and Second Secretary of the Communist Party Jose Machado Ventura and First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez among other leaders.
Russians Mark October Revolution Centenary in Moscow
Russia’s Ambassador Mikhail L. Kamynin and representatives of the diplomatic corps in Cuba among other guests were also attending the gala.
One hundred years ago on November 7th, 1917, the Socialist Revolution in Czarist Russia triumphed. Fidel Castro said that it was the transcendental event of the 20th century in addition to highlighting that without the existence of the Soviet Union, the Cuban Revolution would not have been possible.
The words of the leader of the Revolution, pronounced in the context of the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution, summarized the importance of the event in the history of humanity even after more than 25 years of the disappearance of the Soviet Union and the socialist community.
