The Por los Caminos del Che International Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba, dedicated this year to pay tribute to Heroic Guerrilla Ernesto “Che” Guevara on the 50th anniversary of his death in Bolivia, arrived in Sancti Spíritus Thursday afternoon for a five-day stay.
This year, the group consists of 250 people from 25 countries such as the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Chile.
Before arriving in Sancti Spiritus, the members of the international brigade payed homage to Che in the city of Santa Clara, capital of the former province of Las Villas, which was liberated by his troops on December 31th, 1958.
On Sunday, October 8th, the brigadistas will return to this city to participate in the national central event for the anniversary.
In Sancti Spíritus, the visitors will tour places of economic, historical and cultural interest and will hold meetings with veteran combatants, as well as with leaders and members of mass organizations.
They will also participate in a voluntary work to help in the recovery of areas affected by Hurricane Irma in the municipality of Sancti Spiritus.
