Sancti Spiritus is placed 11th in the general standing of the 57th Cuban Baseball National Series (SNB, for its Spanish acronym) with a 5-7 record
As four subseries ended, Mayabeque, Sancti Spiritus and Holguin are placed 10th, 11th, and 12th in the general standing of the 57th Cuban Baseball National Series (SNB, for its Spanish acronym) with a 5-7 record.
After beating Ciego de Avila, with a surprising forfeit in the last game of the match vs. runners up, Sancti Spiritus took an amazing win off current champions of Cuban baseball and defeated them 4-2, with a comeback in the 8th. Granma Alazanes triumphed in the second 9-2 leaving the winner of the subseries for the final encounter. Roosters had a 5-0 lead in the 6th with experienced Angel Peña in the box, when Sorrels rallied in the bottom of the 6th and 7th inning and took a 9-5 advantage in the game. Neither Peña nor Duardo Rojas nor Hernandez Cruz were able to stop Granma’s offense and the probable win turn into a sound 7-10 defeat.
Sancti Spiritus needed to produce 24 runs to beat one of its black beasts in Cuban baseball: Guantanamo. Fourteen in the first game, 10 in the second. An overall of 22 hits. And the team got the subseries. However, Roosters’ pitching admitted 29 runs and are currently placed at the bottom of the 57the Baseball National Series with a 6.75 ERA, 318 rival average, 49 strikeouts and 57 walks. The stats seem to be taken from a league held at a provincial or municipal level. If things do not change, Sancti Spiritus success in the present season will entirely depend on batting.
