Amateur artists from various Cuban provinces arrived in the municipality of Fomento, in the province of Sancti Spiritus, to participate in the 28th Olga Alonso Theater Festival, which is celebrated from today until March 5.
This festival is named after an art instructor from Havana, who died in a traffic accident on March 4, 1964, in the town of Casa Zinc, in this central Cuban municipality. According to the program of the event, seventeen theater groups coming from the provinces of Guantánamo, Santiago de Cuba, Matanzas, Granma, Holguin, Ciego de Ávila, Sancti Spíritus and Pinar del Río will be participating.
The event will be also attended by guest actors René Alberto Fernández Santana, National Theater Prize and director of the group Papalote, from the province of Matanzas, and by outstanding actor Osvaldo Doimeadiós, who will participate in some of the scheduled theoretical sessions.
Film exhibitions, circus presentations, and a handicrafts fair are also included in the program of activities of the festival.
