Ciego de Avila was ratified on top of the standings and Holguin entered the qualifying area to the playoffs when both teams completed the sweep in the continuation of Cuban baseball championship
The Ciego de Avila Tigers batted 12 hits, including a homer by outfielder Luis Robert Moiran, who also drove in three runs- to
beat 10-3 Granma, with the fifth win of the season to the record of Leorisbel Sanchez.
In turn, Yeison Pacheco hit a homer and drove in three runs to lead Holguin to win 7-1 over Las Tunas. Ernesto Hernandez, who allowed
four hits in five innings and two thirds, was the winner and was supported by Maikel Sainz´s save.
With this result, Holguin climbed to fourth seat in the standings, shared with Industriales, which lost 4-3 to the current runner
up Isla de la Juventud.
Dainier Galvez and rookie Ariel Echevarria led the offensive of the winners with two RBIs per capita in the match won as reliever
by Jesus Reynaldo Amador, who allowed only one hit and an unearned run in three innings.
Finally , Pinar del Rio defeated 1-0 Matanzas to break a tie in the fight for second seat in the standings, thanks to decisive RBI by
Julio Alberto Leon and solid pitching performance by starter Vladimir Baños and closer Livan Moinelo.
After these results, Ciego de Avila commands the National Series with balance of 39 wins and 21 losses, followed by Pinar del Río (36-22), Matanzas (35-23), Holguin and Industriales (36-24), Granma (33-27), Isla de la Juventud and Las Tunas (32-28).
