The technology will work with a speed of two megabytes per second to enter .cu domains and send emails between Cuban entities
The University José Martí Pérez of Sancti Spiritus (UNISS by its Spanish acronym) will benefit soon from the installation of WiFi technology, a mechanism that allows communication via wireless connection.
As part of the strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education to improve computing infrastructure in university education in the country, the setting up of this equipment will enable 300 people to simultaneously surf, Orelvis Lopez, UNISS director of Administration of networks, told ACN.
In exclusive interview with ACN, he explained that students and teachers who have laptops, tablets or smart phones can use the service in public spaces without being in a laboratory of the center because the devices have a range up to 100 meters.
According to the connectivity approved by the Ministry of Education for José Marti University, the technology will work with a speed of two megabytes per second to enter .cu domains and send emails between Cuban entities; while for accessing to foreign sites, the speed will be of 640 kilobyte per second.
Lopez noted that network technicians work in ensuring security for wireless mode when this to be established and emphasized also that only university students and teachers who have an Internet account by the educational institution can make use of this technology.
