Tradition Far from Stagnation in Trinidad, Cuba (+photos)

Trinidad’s Benito Ortiz Borrell Gallery hosts these days the XXI Rafael Zerquera Rodríguez Salon, with works of more than fifty local artisans who may be members or not of the Cuban Association of Artisans and Artists (Acaa).

Fabrics, clay, wood, fibre, and henequen have been used by the artists to make the wonderful pieces, as well as several sui géneris materials like seashells, discarded cans, and different kind of seeds.

Thanks to the youngest generations, the ironworks have been retaken in this year’s salon in which, unfortunately, paintings are not enough represented.

The exhibition will be on display until the beginning of November.
