Highly effective pregnancy tests produced by the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center (CIGB) of Sancti Spiritus, are available since this week in the network of pharmacies of this central Cuban province.
According to Maria Isabel Montejo, senior specialist at the Commercial Department of the Provincial Pharmacy and Optics Company, the non-prescription tests are being first commercialized in the local municipalities of Cabaiguan and Fomento, and will be available in the rest of the territories by next week.
The HeberFast Line® MaternitiTest II has been proved 99% effective, and is a quick easy way —only ten minutes long— to diagnose early stages of pregnancy.
The test can be carried out any time of the day, although it’s recommended to use a sample of the first morning urine, when the hormone concentration is highest. Likewise, the pregnancy strip test should be used after 72 hours of delayed period.
The 60-pesos kit contains an aluminium bag with a test strip, desiccant bag for storage and a prospectus.
Sancti Spiritus’s CIGB, the only one in Cuba involved in the production of the diagnostic method, began manufacturing the pregnancy strip tests back in the 90s of the past century.
