Melisa won eight medals, all the possible ones, at this year’s National School Games, and was the first champion of the competition
All the fears that Melisa Maura Morejón Moreira felt four years ago, when she went into the water for the first time, were left behind. According to her swimming coach, Iván Reyes, she overcame them with discipline, will, strength, and resistance.
This way, Melisa managed to win eight medals, all the possible ones, at this year’s National School Games, in which the local swimming squad was place second, with 56 medals.
Before this feat, she had already stood out in 2012, and 2013 games, when she was awarded a gold and a silver medal, and two silver and three bronze medals, respectively.
With her 50-m gold medal, and 32.75 personal record, she turned out to be the first champion of the 2014 school games. Rivals and experts were overwhelmed with her swimming skills in the different styles.
Before the school games celebration, the eleven-year-old-category competitor attended the Marcelo Salado Cup, where she won four bronze medals.
