Over 97 000 mobile users are so far registered in Sancti Spiritus, which makes 21 cell phones every 100 inhabitants.
Despite technological limitations that affect the quality of cellular telephony in Sancti Spititus, the activation of new mobile phone lines has greatly increased this year, that’s why this territory is considered the one with best results among Cuban provinces.
According to Acelia María González Lorenzo, head of the communication department in charge of this business here, over 97 000 mobile users are so far registered, which makes 21 cell phones every 100 inhabitants.
Nevertheless, the executive referred to difficulties like the network congestion mostly reported in the municipalities of Cabaiguán, Jatibonico, Trinidad, and Yaguajay; the limitations with the technology and the staff; and the impossibility to carry out some already announced commercial facilities, which depend on national investments.
In this respect, the Telecommunication Enterprise of Cuba (Etecsa), works on the installation of seven new cellular radio base stations, one of them already concluded in the town of Zaza del Medio, municipality of Taguasco.
2014 investments in this province also included the replacement of the technology in the radio base stations that support mobile service in Sancti Spiritus, the capital municipality.
