With an ambience full of incertitude for Sancti Spiritus fans and baseball team, the local squad, boosted by their “foreign” players, got the first victory 5×4 in the 2013 playoff.
There is no doubt on who was the hero of the game. Yunior Paumier shot a double, a 3-runs homer and showed off in the key defensive play of the game to deserve the credit of MVP of the encouter.
The game succeeded in enthusiasm and motivation but lacked of the so-called ABCs of baseball as both clubs could get more runs if we take into account the great number of men left on base (Roosters 12 and Crocodiles 11).
Managers also made or did not make what seemed correct moves during the encounter, as the case of Victor Mesa who did not take out his son for a pinch hitter in the 6th with a teammate on scoring position and two outs, or Yovani Aragon who left Ismel Jimenez far too much on the box and risked his team losing the game.
However, there is no doubt on who was the hero of the game. Yunior Paumier shot a double, a 3-runs homer and showed off in the key defensive play of the game to deserved the credit of MVP of the encouter.
Jorge Jonhson and Yaisel Sierra were also assets for their team, the first with a run scored and another one brought in, and the second with an epic relief when Matanzas seemed to take control of the encounter by closing the score, and leaving one man on each corner and no out.
Ismel Jimenez was the winner of the game and Omar Guardarramas saved it. The best pitcher of the season, Matanzas Joel Suarez, took the loss.
