Over 4 500 children attending first grade of primary education in Sancti Spiritus, became members of the Jose Marti Pioneer Organization (OPJM).
They all received the blue scarf that identifies the organization this October 8th, on occasion of the 46 anniversary of the death of Heroic Guerrilla Ernesto “Che” Guevara.
Being like Che is a goal for all Cuban pioneers. “We work to develop in the students human values such as internationalism, humanism, honesty, solidarity, and responsibility, among others that characterized the Heroic Guerrilla”, said Damiellys Alonso Simon, president of OPJM in Sancti Spiritus.
Caring for the scarf and its correct use becomes the first duty of the pioneers. The blue garment, which they should ware until third grade, represents the children’s commitment to their organization.
“From now on, children begin to get acquainted with the pioneers’ organization, and to take on responsibilities in the different pioneers’ groups”, added Alonso.
