Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez congratulated, on behalf of the Venezuelan people and Government, Raul Castro for being reaffirmed Sunday as president of the Council of State of Cuba by the National Assembly of the People’s Power of that nation.
In a communiqué released by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, President Chavez says the re-election has been “a fair recognition to the life of this brave soldier, who starting from heroic fights at Sierra Maestra, and proven in the heat of the imperial harassment, has been a crucial piece, together with Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, in the Revolution which since 1959 has reinforced Cuba as a model of democracy of tis own, generating true sovereignty and independence.”

President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Commander Hugo Chavez, along with the people and Government of Venezuela, conveys his warmest congratulation to revolutionary leader Raul Castro Ruz for his re-election as President of the Council of State of the sister Republic of Cuba.
Re-electing en masse Army General Raul Castro Ruz to lead the Cuban State, the National Assembly of the People’s Power of Cuba has made a fair recognition to the life of this brave soldier, who starting from heroic fights at Sierra Maestra, and proven in the heat of the imperial harassment, has been a crucial piece, together with Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, in the Revolution which since 1959 has reinforced Cuba as a model of democracy of its own, generating true sovereignty and independence, as Jose Marti dreamed it.
President Hugo Chavez, his revolutionary Government and the people of Liberator Simon Bolivar are categorically convinced that President Raul Castro will harvest, along with his noble People, most of the success in this new stage of progress in the Cuban Revolution, sister of the Bolivarian Revolution, and the light which enlightens the path of all men and women who fight for justice, equality and freedom.
