Cuban President Raul Castro has congratulated the new Prime Minister of Haiti, Laurent Lamothe, over the ratification of his newly appointed cabinet by the country’s parliament.

In his congratulatory message, Raul Castro reiterated Cuba’s willingness to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between both Caribbean countries. The gesture was greatly appreciated by the Haitian official, according to local media.

Lamothe, who retains his post as foreign minister, was inaugurated Thursday after both houses of Parliament approved his 21-member cabinet and political program.

The new prime minister is the second appointed in the government of President Michel Martelli, who took over as head of state of Haiti on May 14th last year. (Taken from RHC)
