Considered one of the most important Cuban landscape painters, Mario Garcia Portela will present a retrospective on the occasion of an event that will bring together, in the historical center of the capital, prominent creators of this artistic expression.

The exhibition entitled “Homage” will open tomorrow at the Colonial Art Museum as part of the meeting Landscapes in the Office, organized by that institution of the Office of the Historian of the City.

It includes 11 oil paintings, created from 1998 to date, for various series like Viñales (with the traditional landscape of the western province of Pinar del Rio), Portraits of Forest and Small Citizens of Time.

His work reflects, with unique detail, all the beauty of the Cuban landscape. As hallmark he uses ocher color and sepia.

Much of his work appears in private collections in Chile, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Argentina, Germany, USA, France, Canada, Panama and Puerto Rico.

The exhibition “Homage” will remain for a month at the Museum of Colonial Art of the capital’s historical center. (Taken from PL)
