Over 800 candidates to be members (delegates) of the Municipal Assemblies of the People’s Power have been already nominated in Sancti Spiritus, central Cuba.
According to Orelve Jacomino Ramos, president of the Provincial Electoral Commission, the nomination meetings have been so far celebrated as scheduled in this territory.
He highlighted the massive participation of the people in those meetings, in which the electors have the chance to choose whoever they consider are the most suitable to represent them.
Jacomino also informed that the 33% of the nominees are women, while 15 per cent are juveniles. On the other hand, 41% of those who are currently delegates in the Municipal Assemblies of the People’s Power have been again nominated, he added.
This phase, considered of great importance in the current electoral process, will reach its peak next October 21st, when local electors will vote the 696 delegates who will represent them in the eight governmental bodies of the province.
