Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, second secretary of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) Central Committee and first vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers, urged to work quickly and take advantage of the improved weather conditions to move forward in the recovery phase, in a visit paid to Sancti Spiritus province on Friday.
The Cuban leader received a detailed information on the extent of the damages and the progress made to return to normal.
Accompanied by Jose Ramon Monteagudo, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the PCC in Sancti Spiritus, and Theresa Romero, president of the Provincial Assembly of People’s Power, Machado Ventura visited affected areas by the heavy rains hitting Sancti Spiritus in late May, and received a detailed information on the extent of the damages and the progress made to return to normal.
“You have to work morning, noon and night because it’s still spring,” said the Cuban leader as he shared with the building task forces working on restoring the road that links the Central Highway, in Managuaco’s territory, with the cement factory in Siguaney.
William Canizares, director of the Business Group of the Ministry of Construction in this central region of Cuba, acknowledged the support received from the top level, which has ordered the dispatch of forces from the sister provinces of Camaguey, Cienfuegos, Matanzas and Villa Clara, to Sancti Spiritus, in order to support the rescue of damaged roads.
