Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez will register today his candidacy before the Electoral National Council in view to the elections on Oct. 7.
“This Monday the Homeland’s choice for president will register as a candidate. It will be a day of joy.”, said the head of State on Saturday after a working meeting in Miraflores Palace with the Russian minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.
Chavez recently qualified as fundamental the victory in these elections as premise to run Simon Bolivar National Plan for 2013-2019, which seeks to deepen the social transformations in this South American nation.
The Bolivarian Revolution does have a national project and its main objective is to satisfy the needs of the Venezuelans, he said in reference to that program, to be submitted to the electoral arbiter.
According to the President, the inhabitants of this nation will have stronger moral and conscience force with the launch of the national project, which he defined as historical.
So far, virtually all polls show the president will win by a large difference compared to the opposition candidate, Henrique Capriles, who on Sunday made official his candidacy.
According to reports, the representative of the so-called Democratic Unity Table had the support of 33 parties and political organizations, some of them tiny and little known.
In the previous elections held in 2006, the Head of State reached 62.8 percent of the vote (7, 3 million), and his main opponent, the now fugitive Manuel Rosales, got 36.9 percent (4, 2 million).
