Different activities have been scheduled in the over 3 300 grassroots delegations in Sancti Spiritus, Cuban central province, to acknowledge students, housewives, retired and active female workers next March 8th, the International Women’s Day.

Women involved in agriculture will be granted special recognition, as well as the so called Anitas, name given to the ladies who, right after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, were encouraged by Vilma Espín to go to Havana to be trained on needlework.
Sancti Spiritus is one of the island’s first three territories to fulfill the tasks agreed on in the Cuban Farmers’ Association (ANAP) Congress concerning the enrollment of women in agricultural work.
