Presided over by Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, the Provincial Party Assembly in Sancti Spiritus focused debates on significant economic issues and the need to change both working methods and styles. Jose Ramon Monteagudo Ruiz was elected first secretary of the Communist Party in the territory.
While presiding over the plenary session of the Provincial Party Assembly in Sancti Spiritus, the Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, urged the political organization members to change mentality and to break existing work routine.
The nearly 250 delegates and 65 guests attending the meeting, focused debates on the outcomes of local economy which, for the last years, has been faced with a shortage of material and financial resources as well as with several subjective problems like low productivity indexes.
In this respect, Jorge Félix Lazo -first secretary of the Party in the local municipality of Cabaiguan- said that it’s the political organization’s duty to control, not to manage. Party members must leave formalisms behind, he added.
The Party has to be strong, has to demand and has to control using adequate methods, said the also First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers.
