Sancti Spiritus poet Liudmila Quincoses’s Escribania Dollz Project was first announced in 1994. Soon after that, she found herself writing lots of made-to-order love letter and, without any prediction on her part, the project grew into an international contest.
The 38-minute documentary is directed by filmmaker Guillermo Centeno and sponsored by the Cuban Institute of the Art and Cinematographic Industry.
“Humanbeings are in great need of communication”, said the poet who also chairs the Hermanos Saiz Association in the territory. “The fact of having served as a bridge between the persons is the Escribania Dollz’s greatest achievement”, she added.
According to Centeno, his Love Letters film intends to pay tribute to scribes, whose job has been so many times minimized by contemporary life. But in the case of Quincose, it has helped to solve existential conflicts thanks to the saving mediation of poetry.
