The third imported case in Cuba of a patient with Zika virus has been confirmed, corresponding to a Cuban voluntary worker, a
43 year-old laboratory technician who arrived in the country from Venezuela (Merida) on March 1st, 2016, and lives in the municipality Florida, eastern Camagüey province, informed a note issued by the Public Health Ministry.

That same day he had a headache and the next day a rash in the thorax region. He was admitted on March 2 at the Amalia Simoni Hospital of the city of Camagüey.

Starting from this very day all actions of epidemiological and vector
control established for such cases were made.

On March 7 the laboratory of the Institute of Tropical Medicine informed that tests made on the patient at the time of admission were positive for Zika virus.

He continues at the hospital and he is in good general condition, with discreet rash.
