Following the completion of the technological installation, the 220 kV electrical substation under construction in Sancti Spiritus town Tuinucú, entered a trial period, before provinding services which, according to the investment specialists, could occur in early 2014.

Technological Installation of 220 kV Substation in Sancti Spiritus is Completed

Designed by INEL (Engineering and Energetic Enterprise Project) of the Cuban Ministry of Basic Industry (MINBAS, for its Spanich accronym), the work is curently at a 97% of the general execution-including the civil construction and assembly-, a rate that corresponds to the schedule.

According to engineer Fernando Matienzo, director of investments at the substation, the works focus at present on the installation and integration of the electrical networks and data processing.

Valued at more than 20 million pesos, the 220 ​​kV electrical substation executed in Tuinucu (5km away from Sancti Spiritus), constitutes a strategic operation for the Cuban central province, as it will improve the maneuverability of the system and ensure voltage values ​​within the parameters established in what is considered, at present times, the weakest node in the island’s central region.

The substation will provide the province’s Electric System with full strength, reduce transmission losses and improve network flexibility for operation, as well as allocating more load levels between the existing substations in case of breakdowns or maintenance.
