Cuban Baseball: Roosters Lose but Keep on Fighting

Despite losing the three game series vs. Villa Clara Orangemen, Sancti Spiritus fans left the stadium pleased with their team. Roosters took the worst part again in the Cuban baseball national season, this time facing the best team in the championship. Despite losing the three game series vs. Villa Clara Orangemen, Sancti Spiritus fans left the stadium pleased with their team. Roosters took the worst part again in the Cuban baseball national season, this time facing the best team in the championship.

Villa Clara won the subseries by beating Sancti Spiritus 12-2 and 4-2, while Roosters avoid the swept by winning the second encounter 6-2.

The Orangemen used their best pitching to finally obtain the three game series vs. Roosters. Lefties Robelio Carrillo and Misael Siverio, and right handed hurlers Freddy Asiel Alvarez and Yolexis Ulacia (all from Cuba teams) combined to give their team the two victories.

Despite the loss, Sancti Spiritus fans witnessed a different mood from the part of their team, mainly in the last two games. Roosters fought hard to obtain the victory but it did not work out that way.

One of the relevant notes for Sancti Spiritus players was that 5th batter Eriel Sanchez reached the thousand runs brought in and is only three homers away from the 200.

Roosters currently hold a 22-26 record and remain 6th in the Western Region, two games an a half away from 4th placed Pinar del Rio.
